Art Curator

The ideal candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, organizing, and executing exhibitions that align with the gallerys vision. You will also work closely with artists, collectors, and the public to enhance the gallerys reputation as a vibrant hub for contemporary African art.

• Experience Level : Mid level
• Experience Length : 4 years

Responsibilities:

• Develop and curate exhibitions and special projects
• Research and identify artists whose work aligns with the gallerys curatorial direction
• Manage artwork handling, display, and documentation
• Collaborate with artists, institutions, and collectors
• Prepare exhibition catalogs, wall texts, and curatorial statements
• Support gallery communications and public engagement initiatives
Maintain an up-to-date database of artworks and artist portfolios

Requirements:

• Degree in Art History, Fine Art, Cultural Studies, or related field
• Minimum 4-5 years of proven Experience in curating exhibitions or working in an art institution
• Strong knowledge of contemporary African art and global art trends
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic team
• Organized, creative, and detail-oriented
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Strong visual and creative sensibilities with attention to branding and aesthetics.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Passion for arts and cultural events is a plus
• Creativity and innovative thinking
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
