Job Summary:

The Head of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization, ensuring the effective management of financial resources, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the companys long-term objectives. The role involves leading the finance team, and managing financial planning and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop monthly profit and loss forecasts by division and prepare weekly cash flow forecasts.
  • Summarize financial status through balance sheets, income statements, and performance reports.
  • Conduct analysis for key business initiatives, including expansion and capital investments.
  • Prepare, update, and monitor capital expenditure and divisional budgets.
  • Prepare financial statements for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
  • Oversee all month-end closing activities, including general ledger, reconciliations, and cost allocations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate statutory returns and filings with regulators (CAC, FIRS, LIRS).
  • Supervise the payroll process including PAYE and pension remittances.
  • Maintain financial security through strict internal controls and checks.
  • Manage weekly cash flows, payables, and fund availability.
  • Approve online payments, cheque signings, and petty cash disbursements.
  • Monitor liquidity, authorize disbursements, and ensure appropriate treasury operations.
  • Execute decisions on investment strategies based on cash and liquidity risks.
  • Act as the primary contact for external audits and coordinate audit preparation.
  • Supervise tax planning activities and ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and deadlines.
  • Enhance and implement financial systems, tools, and control processes.
  • Ensure efficient use of operational software and drive process automation where applicable.
  • Supervise and mentor finance team members including accountants, analysts, and treasurers.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships including vendors, regulators, and auditors.
  • Collaborate with department heads to align financial planning with organizational goals.
  • Perform risk analysis and make informed decisions regarding capital structure and investment.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and scenario analyses to support strategic planning.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and settled promptly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Masters degree or MBA is a strong advantage.
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or CPA) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting.
  • At least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Prior experience in media, advertising, or FMCG sectors is highly desirable.
  • Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, tax planning, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems, ERP tools, and financial reporting software.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, payroll systems, and treasury operations.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and strategic thinking capabilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₦400,000.00 - ₦500,000.00 per month
