Job Title: Equity Trader Location: Lagos State Salary: Negotiable Company: Financial Service Company About the Role: We are seeking a dynamic, analytical, and detail-oriented Equity Trader to join our trading team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing buy and sell orders for stocks and other equity instruments on behalf of clients or the firm. The role demands strong market knowledge, a keen eye for trends, and the ability to act decisively under pressure. Key Responsibilities: Execute trades for equities across domestic and international markets, ensuring best execution practices. Monitor financial markets and market-moving events to adjust trading strategies in real-time. Work closely with portfolio managers, research analysts, and risk managers to align trading activity with investment objectives. Manage order flow, trade allocation, and post-trade reconciliation. Maintain relationships with brokers, exchanges, and other counterparties. Identify market opportunities and contribute trading ideas to generate alpha. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies during all trading activities. Utilize trading platforms, algorithms, and other technologies to improve trading efficiency. Prepare and present trading activity reports, trade rationales, and market commentary to management. Participate in ongoing process improvement, automation projects, and trading system enhancements. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, or a related field. 2-5 years of experience in an equity trading role (buy-side or sell-side). Deep understanding of financial markets, market microstructure, and trading strategies. Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Proficiency in trading platforms such as Bloomberg, EMSX, FlexTrade, or similar. Familiarity with algorithmic trading and electronic execution tools. Excellent decision-making abilities under time-sensitive and high-pressure situations. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
