HEAD TECHNICAL, SUBMARINE CABLE BUSINESS

Job Title: Head, Technical - Submarine Cable Business

Unit: Technical SCBObjective:Lead the planning, engineering, and operations of the submarine cable business to ensure that network performance, service quality, and technological evolution meet the companys strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Technology Roadmap

• Develop and implement the companys technology roadmap for the submarine cable business.
• Collaborate with executive management to align technological resources with strategic business objectives.
• Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to integrate technologies that enhance revenue and expand market opportunities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential implementation within the company.

Network Planning & Operations

• Oversee network planning, implementation, and operations to ensure optimal performance and high service availability.
• Manage network security, resilience, and disaster recovery planning to maintain network integrity.
• Lead capacity planning, interconnect topology design, and optimization for network growth and evolution.
• Ensure successful maintenance activities and adherence to high network availability and reliability standards.

Supplier & Partner Management

• Establish and manage business relationships with suppliers and partners across operating countries to support business growth.
• Formulate and execute expansion plans to meet customer requirements, including upstream transit internet provisioning and engagement with global carriers.

Support for Sales & Market Expansion

• Provide technical support to in-country and international sales teams to develop business relationships in existing and new West African markets.
• Collaborate on the development of connectivity solutions leveraging SCBs submarine fiber optic cable system.

Operational & Financial Management

• Actively manage the departments budget to ensure effective resource allocation for technology investments.
• Implement strategies to control CAPEX and OPEX while increasing network efficiency and profitability.
• Formulate and execute cost-saving operational plans.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

• Effective strategy formulation and strategic leadership of the network function.
• Accurate forecasting of network capacity requirements and quality management metrics.
• Efficient collection and analysis of business inputs and technical utilization trends.
• Enhanced collaboration across business units within the value chain.
• Increased efficiency and profitability through CAPEX and OPEX control.
• Timely execution of network optimization and expansion projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Educational Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Engineering (Communication, Electronics, or a related field).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in the telecom/service provider industry.
• Sound knowledge of fixed network planning, optimization, and operations & maintenance (O&M).
• Expertise in service delivery, project/program management, and statistical/analytical skills.
• Strong experience in long-haul communications and submarine cable networks.
