Africa Strategy Advisers (ASA) is expanding its technology arm and seeking a Senior PHP Backend Developer (Laravel) to join our fast-growing digital team. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations using PHP (Laravel).
  • Optimize database structures and backend logic for speed, security, and performance.
  • Integrate third-party payment systems and APIs (e.g., Paystack, Flutterwave).
  • Collaborate with product leads, frontend developers, and project managers to deliver high-impact digital solutions.
  • Implement secure data handling and authentication mechanisms.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, testing, debugging, and documentation.

What You Should Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with PHP, with a strong focus on Laravel development.
  • Solid knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices, and relational/non-relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Hands-on experience with caching (Redis), queues (RabbitMQ), and performance tuning.
  • Strong grasp of version control, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or DigitalOcean is a bonus.
  • Prior experience in fintech, enterprise software, or startup environments preferred.
