Trade Finance Manager

• The Trade Finance Manager will lead the companys trade finance operations, ensuring the effective management of letters of credit, guarantees, import/export documentation, and banking relationships.
• This role plays a strategic part in supporting Sunbeths local and international trade transactions, optimizing cash flow, and mitigating financial risks.

Job Details

• Oversee all trade finance operations, including issuance, negotiation, and settlement of Letters of Credit (LC), Standby LCs, Bank Guarantees, and other trade instruments.
• Manage relationships with local and international banks to secure favorable terms and credit facilities.
• Liaise with internal departments (procurement, logistics, legal, treasury) and external stakeholders (suppliers, regulatory bodies) to ensure seamless trade execution.
• Mitigate financial and operational risks associated with cross-border transactions through proactive planning and negotiation.
• Lead the preparation of trade documentation including shipping documents, customs papers, and financial instruments.
• Structure trade deals in line with regulatory requirements, banking policies, and company strategy.
• Monitor trade finance KPIs such as transaction turnaround times, cost efficiency, and compliance adherence.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with international trade rules such as UCP 600, ISBP, Incoterms, and local regulatory guidelines (e.g., CBN, NAFEM, SON, Customs).
• Forecast cash flow needs related to trade transactions and coordinate timely funding and payments.
• Provide strategic input on trade finance structures that align with business growth and expansion goals.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. MBA or Masters degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in trade finance, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
• Professional certifications such as CDCS (Certified Documentary Credit Specialist), CITF (Certificate in International Trade and Finance), ACCA, or ICAN preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of international trade practices, banking instruments, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in oil & gas or commodity trading is highly desirable.
• Strong command of trade finance systems and ERP platforms.
