With its headquarters in London, UK, SC works in over 120 countries globally, including Nigeria, helping children survive, learn and be protected by improving their education, health, nutrition, protection and economic opportunities, and in times of acute crisis, mobilizing rapid life-saving assistance to help children recover from the effects of war, conflict and natural disasters.Save the Children Nigeria is implementing the Reaching Out of School Children (ROOSC) Project in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria, for crisis-affected out-of-school children, funded by Educate a Child, Islamic Development Bank, Global Partnership in Education, Kuwait Fund, and Save the Children. “Reaching Out of School Children (ROOSC) Project” project is a 4-year initiative to support crisis-affected out of school children (aged 6-14) to exercise their equal rights to quality education and gender equality (GE) in the State of Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria.The “Reaching out of school children in Kaduna State (ROOSC)” is designed to support Kaduna State government in ensuring the inclusive and equitable provision of quality primary education for all children of official primary school age and adolescents & young adults. Particular attention and focus will be on these marginalized and deprived groups as the projects target beneficiaries. Project approach, strategies, and interventions are gender-sensitive, pro-poor, and promote inclusivity in primary education provision. Adequate attention will be given to infrastructure, facilities, teaching-learning supplies, and processes to ensure child-friendly and enabling environments in schools and learning centres, promoting and sustaining enrollment, full participation, completion, and quality learning outcomes in primary education.The MEAL Assistant in Kaduna will support the establishing and managing a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) system for the project in their location. Core duties for the position include designing and implementing a MEAL system in accordance with Save the Children International (SCI) standards.The position holder will support evaluations/assessments, monitor program progress and quality, document lessons learnt, and contribute to periodic monitoring and reporting. - Develop robust MEAL plans, systems, processes, and tools for the project in line with SCI and donor requirements.
- Provide MEAL technical support to partners.
- Take the lead in data collection efforts for the project, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to derive actionable insights and recommendations from project data.
- Execute quarterly monitoring, and accountability activities to enhance project performance, including quality benchmarks, data quality assessments, and/or data quality assessments.
- Document data collection and analysis findings, contributing to comprehensive and informative reports.
- Ensure monthly updates to the SCI’s Project reporting Information Management & Evidence (PRIME) system logframe, accurately reflecting project progress and achievements.
- Ensure the project is implementing the 3 pillars of Accountability - Information sharing, participation and feedback & reporting and providing relevant documentation.
- Assist in establishing robust accountability mechanisms, ensuring the voices of project participants are considered in project adaptation/design and implementation.
- Conduct periodic community feedback and stakeholder meetings to gather input, feedback, and insights on the program, enhancing community engagement, and promoting transparency and accountability.
- Actively engage in program learning initiatives, facilitating discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions among project teams.
- Support in the archiving of Project Documents in the Resource Centre
- Support in the development of case studies and success stories for the project.
- Ensure project lessons learnt are documented and reflected in programme decisions
- Ensure risk assessments are done before any data collection that involves children.
- Ensure enumerators are trained on before any data collection.
- Comply with SCI policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Undertake any other tasks within the MEAL function as the line manager requires, adapting to project needs and challenges.

- At least 2 years of experience working in MEAL for Humanitarian/developmental organizations.
- Experience in implementing education or child protection programs is an added advantage.

- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values, and principles including rights-based approaches and children’s participation.
- No child dies from preventable causes before their 5th birthday
