Position Summary:We are seeking a talented Assistant Pastry Chef with a specialization in English Desserts to join our team in the airline catering service industry. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating high-quality, delicious desserts, combined with excellent organizational and leadership skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled pastry chef to make a mark in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dessert Preparation:
- Create and prepare a variety of English desserts (e.g., scones, crumbles, pies, puddings, and other classic treats).
- Ensure all desserts are prepared according to exact specifications, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.
- Work closely with the Head Pastry Chef to develop new dessert ideas and ensure that all menu items meet the airlines standards.
- Pastry Kitchen Management:
- Assist in managing pastry kitchen operations, including inventory management and ensuring sufficient stock of all necessary ingredients.
- Ensure cleanliness and adherence to hygiene and safety standards in the pastry section of the kitchen.
- Maintain accurate records of ingredients used and prepared to support inventory control and ordering.
- Team Leadership:
- Assist in supervising and training junior pastry chefs and kitchen staff, providing guidance to ensure high-quality pastry production.
- Ensure efficient workflow during peak kitchen hours, assisting the team in achieving operational goals.
- Quality Control and Compliance:
- Monitor the quality and presentation of all desserts, ensuring they meet airline catering standards.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, kitchen protocols, and health codes.
Requirements:
- Culinary Qualifications: Degree, Diploma, or Certificate from a reputable culinary institute.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as an Assistant Pastry Chef, Pastry Chef, or in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
- Skills:
- Strong expertise in English desserts and pastry preparation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
