Job Description/Requirements

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Executive with a background in engineering to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a critical role in driving growth by initiating, developing, and completing bids for contracts in the power, manufacturing, infrastructure, and maintenance sectors across Nigeria. The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge with strong business acumen to identify new opportunities, engage with key stakeholders, and lead the bid process to secure profitable contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Strategy:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the power, manufacturing, infrastructure, and maintenance industries.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to expand the companys market share in the Nigerian sector.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, government agencies, contractors, and industry partners.

Bid Management & Execution:

  • Lead the end-to-end bid process for new contracts, including opportunity identification, pre-qualification, proposal preparation, and submission.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, legal, etc.) to prepare high-quality bids that align with client requirements and technical specifications.
  • Ensure that all bids are submitted on time and in full compliance with client specifications and industry regulations.
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to secure contracts that align with company objectives.

Market Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough market research to understand trends, competitors, and emerging opportunities in the Nigerian power, manufacturing, infrastructure, and maintenance sectors.
  • Analyze customer needs, project requirements, and industry standards to tailor bid responses effectively.
  • Monitor developments in government policies, regulations, and tenders to stay ahead of industry changes.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Engage with existing and prospective clients to understand their needs, challenges, and objectives.
  • Present technical solutions and value propositions clearly, demonstrating the companys capabilities and competitive advantages.
  • Participate in industry networking events, conferences, and trade shows to enhance the companys visibility.

Collaboration & Reporting:

  • Collaborate with the senior management team to define business development goals and measure progress.
  • Provide regular updates to management on the status of bid submissions, market trends, and competitive analysis.
  • Prepare and present reports on the performance of completed contracts, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.

Key Requirements:

  • A OND/HND or Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business development, technical sales, or project management in the power, manufacturing, infrastructure, or maintenance sectors.
  • Proven track record in managing and completing high-value bids and tenders for large-scale contracts.
  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian regulatory environment, industry standards, and tendering processes.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and compelling way.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and client management skills.
  • Proficiency in using business development tools, CRM software, and MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Analytical mindset with a strategic approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
