Project Quantity Surveyor

Job Overview:

The Project Quantity Surveyor at Homework Group has a critical role in managing all aspects of construction projects contractual and financial side across the subsidiary companies. This position ensures that

construction projects are completed within the projected budget and to the highest standards. The Group Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, procurement officers, and other stakeholders to provide cost-effective solutions and maintain financial health across all projects.

Work Environment:

The Project Quantity Surveyor will work in an office setting and regularly visit

construction sites. This role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and

managing multiple projects simultaneously.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

  • ∙Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • ∙Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs.
  • ∙Advise on procurement strategies and contract structures to achieve cost

efficiencies.

2. Tendering and Contract Management:

  • Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents,

contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documents.

  • Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and, where

appropriate, negotiate with the contractors.

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with the company’s policies and

legal requirements.

3. Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring expenditures remain within

budget.

  • Prepare regular financial reports for senior management, including cost

forecasts and progress updates.

  • Conduct detailed analysis of project costs and variances to provide insights

and recommendations for cost control.

4. Valuation and Payment:

  • Conduct regular valuations on site for interim payments and final accounts.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports and valuations for clients.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to contractors and

suppliers.

5. Risk Management:

∙Identify, analyze, and manage risks associated with construction projects.

∙Implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize financial exposure.

∙Ensure compliance with all legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

6. Stakeholder Collaboration:

∙Collaborate with other departments within Homework Group, including

development, design, procurement, and construction, to ensure integrated

project delivery.

∙Establish strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other

stakeholders.

7. Project Lifecycle Support:

∙Provide support throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to

completion and post-completion.

∙Offer expert advice on cost and contractual issues during the project

planning and execution phases.

∙Ensure that all projects comply with industry standards and best practices.

8. Continuous Improvement:

∙Stay updated with industry trends, practices, and legislation.

∙Promote and implement innovative practices and solutions to improve

efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

∙Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and

knowledge.

Qualification;

  • Bachelors degree or it equivalent in Quantity Surveying or any related field.
  • Minimum of 5years of experience as a project quantity surveyor in quotation and design project
  • Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, material costs and tendering processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork
