Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Augmented Reality (AR) Developer with 3D Modeling Experience to lead the development and integration of AR features into the Icheta platform. This role will focus on creating engaging AR experiences, such as virtual try-ons, product previews, and interactive market simulations, tailored for the Nigerian market. Youll collaborate with backend developers, UI/UX designers, and cultural experts to deliver seamless, culturally relevant solutions that delight our users.

Key Responsibilities

AR Feature Development :

• Design and implement AR features, including virtual try-ons for clothing, shoes, and accessories, as well as product previews for furniture and electronics.
• Create AR unboxing experiences triggered via QR codes on packaging.
• Build interactive AR experiences for joint shopping sessions, enabling real-time try-ons and product visualizations.
• Develop virtual market stall simulations that reflect the vibrant Nigerian market experience with local cultural elements.
Integrate AR with short-form video content (Reels) for interactive product experiences.

3D Modeling and Optimization :

• Create and optimize 3D models for AR using tools like Blender or Maya, ensuring compatibility with mid-range devices common in Nigeria (e.g., Tecno, Infinix).
• Develop lightweight AR models to support offline functionality, enabling basic AR experiences with limited internet connectivity.
Collaborate with vendors to create 3D models of their products for AR demos.

Frontend Integration :

• Integrate AR features into the Icheta mobile app using ARCore (Google) for Android and ARKit (Apple) for iOS, ensuring cross-platform compatibility.
• Work with UI/UX designers to add intuitive AR buttons (e.g., “Try On,” “Preview in AR”) on product pages and during joint shopping sessions.
Optimize AR rendering for mobile devices, focusing on performance and data efficiency to accommodate high data costs in Nigeria.

Collaboration and Testing :

• Collaborate with backend developers to fetch product data and AR assets via APIs, ensuring seamless integration with Ichetas systems.
• Partner with AI/ML engineers to integrate voice-guided AR experiences in local languages (Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, Pidgin English).
Work with QA engineers to test AR features on a range of devices, ensuring compatibility and performance on mid-range smartphones.

Analytics and Engagement :

• Capture user interactions with AR features (e.g., number of try-ons, conversions) and integrate with the analytics dashboard for vendor insights.
Support gamification by enabling AR interactions to earn badges or rewards for users.

Qualifications

Experience :

• 5+ years of experience in AR development, with a proven track record of delivering AR features for mobile and web apps.
• 3+ years of experience in 3D modeling using tools like Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max, with a focus on optimizing models for AR applications.
• Experience with AR frameworks such as ARCore (Google) and ARKit (Apple).
• Familiarity with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine for cross-platform AR development.
Prior experience working on e-commerce or consumer-facing apps is a plus.

Technical Skills :

• Proficiency in mobile app development (Android/iOS) and integrating AR features into mobile applications.
• Strong knowledge of 3D modeling, texturing, and rendering for AR, with an emphasis on lightweight models for mobile devices.
• Experience with API integration to fetch and display AR content in real-time.
Understanding of offline capabilities and data optimization for regions with inconsistent internet connectivity.

Soft Skills :

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality user experiences.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including backend developers, UI/UX designers, and cultural experts.
Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.

Cultural Fit :

• Understanding of the Nigerian market and consumer behavior, with an appreciation for local market culture (e.g., Ariaria Market).
Fluency in English; proficiency in local languages (Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, or Pidgin English) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on AR features for e-commerce platforms, such as virtual try-ons or product previews.
• Familiarity with the Nigerian tech ecosystem and mid-range device optimization.
Previous experience integrating AR with social or gamified features (e.g., badges, collaborative shopping).
