Business Development Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Business Development Manager to lead our growth initiatives within the shipping and logistics sector, with a specific focus on sea and air cargo services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, a deep understanding of freight forwarding and international logistics, and an existing network within the industry.

This is a high-impact role that requires a mix of strategic thinking, operational know-how, and relationship-building expertise. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, and driving revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities.

1. Identify and develop new business opportunities in sea and air freight logistics

2. Lead sales initiatives and strategies to drive growth and market expansion

3. Manage and grow key customer relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction

4. Collaborate with operations and customer service teams to ensure seamless service delivery

5. Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations, proposals, and contract negotiations

6. Track industry trends, competitor activity, and market intelligence to identify strategic opportunities

7. Report on sales performance metrics and pipeline development to executive leadership

8. Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking functions

Experience

1. Minimum 7 years of business development or sales experience in the shipping/logistics sector, with a strong emphasis on sea and air cargo

2. Deep understanding of the West African logistics landscape, especially import/export regulations, port operations, and international freight forwarding

3. Strong industry network and established relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and key clients

4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

Education:

l Bachelors Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (MBA is a plus).

l Relevant certifications.
