Head, Internal Audit & Compliance

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Industry: Financial Services

Salary Range: ₦9M - ₦10M per annum

About the Role:

We seek a seasoned Head of Internal Audit & Compliance to safeguard governance, financial integrity, and regulatory compliance within our organization. This role requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in risk management, audit frameworks, and regulatory adherence to drive accountability at every level.

✅ Audit Leadership

  • Develop and implement annual audit plans to strengthen internal controls.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance (CBN, NFIU, WHT/VAT filings).
  • Oversee asset verification, fraud investigations, and policy adherence.

✅ Risk & Compliance

  • Lead AML/CFT initiatives, including STR/PEP/CTR reporting and staff training.
  • Evaluate collateral, manage loan workout processes, and develop credit risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, security standards, and regulatory guidelines.

✅ Security Oversight

  • Develop security policies, conduct risk assessments, and manage physical/digital security protocols.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and regulatory bodies (EFCC, FIRS, NIBSS, CBN).

✅ Operational Excellence

  • Supervise audit teams, reconcile accounts, and ensure system backups.
  • Prepare error registers, client statements, and executive reports.

? Ideal Candidate

✅ Mandatory Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • ACA certification (mandatory); additional certifications (CIA, CFE) are a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in audit/compliance roles, preferably in financial services.
  • Expertise in CBN, NFIU, and AML/CFT regulatory frameworks & risk management.

✅ Preferred Qualifications:

  • CBN-approved status (optional but advantageous).
  • Experience liaising with law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
